🔥 Embrace Change and Ignite Your Future: Unveiling the 17 Rules of Game Changer Thinking 💡

Hi, listen to Phil Di Bella and this is FlashCast by PDB. Today I'm gonna give you a bit of a summary of the new book that Alan Bonsall and myself wrote, 17 Rules of Game Changer Thinking. So want to go a little bit over the book so you understand it a bit more, and then we will also be giving some books away.

So have a look in the comment section of this podcast. We will be giving some books away to some of our great listeners, but we'll give you a bit of an overview in this flash cast on exactly what the book is about. Let's just say it's all about how to embrace change and ignite your future.

Very simple. 17 reels of game changer thinking. Yesterday was about the entrepreneurial or entrepreneurial mindset. We called it entrepreneurial intelligence. All about vision, passion, brand, emotional intelligence. Today and tomorrow is gonna be about game changers people that are succeeding today and will continue to do so tomorrow.

With the given hard times are gonna be those that we say are game changers. And what we've captured in this book are 17 rules of what we believe makes a game changer and what makes game changer thinking. And I'm gonna give you a really early skim guide over the rules in this podcast because I really then want you to go and get the book and read it.

But very simply, I'm gonna pose you a question. Why do some businesses go from strength to strength while others crash and burn? Think about it. Why do some businesses go from strength to strength while others crash and burn? Right. And one reason that stands above the rest is a willingness to embrace change.

And in the last three years, we've gotta realize. That, that has never been so prevalent. You need the willingness to embrace change. You need it to embrace the change so that it ignites the future and leaves everyone else behind because we're going into unprecedented times, even deeper in the next three years.

So those that are gonna succeed and come out the other end to me are those that have applied. Some, if not all, of the rules of game changer thinking. let me go through some one. The rule of purpose. Well, your purpose is not to focus on your product or service, but simply to be the best. Your purpose must be to understand and fulfill what your customer needs better than anybody else.

The rule about side in. Planning from the inside out is a product-driven fantasy to satisfy shareholders. The rule about side in proves conclusively that only the customer's need can determine success or failure. We focus on the customer's need. In this rule, the rule of the customer, the power shifted from the seller to the buyer.

This rule is about reducing game changer risks and understanding their customers better than their competition ever will, so that you can, you can exceed a customer's expect. Rule four, the rule of the new normal. It dictates that change is inevitable. That game changers must lead, not follow, and must never fall under the trap of believing.

Technology is change. It isn't change, it's a facilitator of change. That's what we explore there. The rule of WIIFM. WIIFM has been around for a long time. Simple concept around marketing. What's in it for me? What's in it for you? If you don't understand what decisions and the impacts of decisions have on somebody else's life, then you are not going to be a game changer.

Six, the rule of brand. The rule of brand is about creating customer loyalty. You create customer loyalty to. And the trust drives repeat business and referral. What is brand? Brand is what people say about you when you leave the. Number seven, the rule of creative destruction. Game changers thinking can't be stationary.

We always say tomorrow better than today. Game changers strive to be different, to improve. They wanna disrupt and create. They don't go about disruption for disruption's sake. They're anticipating the needs of the future. They're looking at the problems they're gonna solve. They're looking at how they're gonna be relevant, and that is why they keep changing the.

The rule of magic moments. Well, what we understand here is that the vital role is emotion. Emotion is what everybody's all about. I talk about emotional engagement. That is the closest thing to a silver bullet that I can share, that if you truly, truly want to create success, the common denominator is, to get people emotionally engaged with your product or service.

Rule nine, the rule of drill bits. Do we need a piece of shiny metal or a hole in the wall? Simply, if there is no need in the market, there is no need for your new product or service. The whole is the need. The shiny bit of metal is simply the means. So what we're talking about there is if you're not relevant, if, if there isn't a need for your product, then there is no game changer.

Thinking. Number 10, the rule of some I love this one. I would've loved to call it rule of two minute noodle. However, we thought that wasn't a good idea. Game changers are skilled at what? Do skilled. They've done their 10,000 hours. They know their stuff. They don't go wide and shallow. They go narrow and deep.

They know their stuff, they plan, prioritize, and they have the ability to make the right decisions because they know their stuff. 11, the rule of profit. Profit doesn't define your business. Remember that, except in the minds of a shareholder. To me, profit is the byproduct of doing things well. You do it right, you satisfy.

Customers need, you look after them, they come back. Profit is the byproduct. And in rule 11, that's what we explore. Not leading with profit, but simply understanding that the rule of profit is a byproduct of getting everything else right. Rule 12, the rule of digital disenchantment. You know, simply can technology get you into more trouble than it's worth?

Of course it can. I know that firsthand don't commentate on the you know, state of origin games. So technology is a tool. It's not a. Remember this, it is a resource. The rule of digital really, really explains here that it's not a solution.

Digital is a tool, it is a resource. So make sure that you don't fall into this whole concept of having digital programs, digital strategies, and thinking that you've ticked the box. Rule 13, the rule of who and. You know, the trap is thinking that all customers are the same, and they're certainly not. We wear different clothes, we drive different cars, we go to different restaurants.

We all revel in our differences. It's what makes us unique. So what happens here, we talk about those game changers who respect people's differences. They respect people's differences. They tailor make products. They tailor make services to ensure that they create that emotional engagement. Rule 14, the rule of q and A, the guiding principle is simple.

What you want to hear is not necessarily what you need to hear. Don't we know that? Surround yourself with people that tell you what you need to hear and what you want to hear. Surround yourself with people that are gonna tell you the truth. Nothing better than that is a. Right, the customer. Let the customer lead.

You anticipate their needs. Ask the customer what they need. How can you solve their problems? And therefore you will become a game changer. Rule 15. The rule of conversation. We've forgotten in the modern world how to have meaningful conversations. We need to make sure that we have meaningful conversations, and the trick here is to manage a conversation in such a compelling way that no one can resist your charms.

You start to see the theme of emotional engagement. These rules all do one thing. They create emotional engagement between you and a prospective customer, you and a prospective buyer, you and a prospective friend, whatever it is. The silver bullet, as I said before, is emotional engagement, and these rules obviously all lead to creating emotional engagement, which leads to game-changer thinking, the rule of goal.

Interesting one. Every aspect of play is guided by an objective. Every one of the rules is guided by an objective. Failure to set an objective means chaos. Think about this. I love using analogies all the time. I use soccer as a great one. Your, you can have a brilliant team of strikers or a, a brilliant team of, you know, salespeople.

But if you don't have a brilliant team of defence in soccer, and they let in more goals in your score, you lose in a business, you're gonna have great salespeople. But if you don't have the right people looking after the backend, then the sales they make just go wasted. You need to make sure that you're not creating mayhem, chaos on the field you need to make.

That the front end meets the back end. You need to make sure that the goalkeepers match the, the, the strikers. You start to get the point. 17, the rule of the lone nut. Be wary of stereotyping. Game changers. Remember game changers embrace leadership because they must, they also embrace ambition and ego because they must, they may not fit into the mould, but they are winners.

They know how to lead people, they lead from the front. They know that what actually makes a person a leader is to create a follower. And here, I love talking about politicians who love to stand out the front and lead and cool themselves leaders, but if nobody's following you, then simply you're the lone nut.

Be alone nut, right? No person is an island. You need to ensure that you embrace the people around you. Leaders know how to embrace people. They know how to bring out the best in people, and that's what leads them to becoming game changer. So, 📍 quick recap. I know I've flown through them. If you're interested, you love the concepts we urge you to get the book.

You can get the book from the Coffee Commune website, www.coffee commune.com. Do au You can download it on all the, the different platforms. the audiobook should be out as well. We'll put the, with links up all in the podcast description and summary.

Have a look at it, but it's all about game changer. Remember how to embrace change and ignite. Your future and the question I started with, the question I leave you with, why do some businesses go from strength to strength while others crash and burn? Well, we've attempted to answer that in 17 rules of game-changer thinking.

Entrepreneurship is a way of life and intelligence for me, not a title. Every project that I embark upon, my goal is to do it different or better than anyone else. It was this passion and entrepreneurial spirit that led me to start up my first business venture, a small coffee-roasting operation in the suburbs of Brisbane in 2002. I identified a gap in the coffee market. There was no local coffee company that successfully matched the quality of their products with excellent customer service and a strong brand, all at a reasonable price. This business grew from a start up to the largest of its kind in Australia before I sold it 12 years later. I strive to make my group of companies matter to customers. I want to ensure that I am relevant in the future am continually looking at innovative ways to do so. I am not limited by my available resources; I am continually looking to fill the void in the market to meet customer’s needs and solve problems. My mantra is ‘tomorrow better than today’. My goal is to continue building and improving and use our achievements to fuel our momentum and keep moving forward to bigger and better things. I never rest on the laurels of my success but continue to pursue new ventures through which to challenge myself, and seek opportunities to develop or share my skills. I continue to strive as a leader in my industry and as an entrepreneur, and am always challenging myself personally and professionally whilst ensuring to give back to community.
